MUSICCellist. Singer-Songwriter. Arts Advocate. Teaching Artist. Collaborator. Cultural Conduit. In each role, Shana Tucker's unique genre of ChamberSoul weaves jazz, roots, folk, acoustic pop, and a touch of R&B into melodies that echo in your head for days.
SHiNE is Shana’s first full-length album and highlights her keen aptitude for storytelling through original songs. Her second album, Hiding in the Light (2024 - MamaGooch Music), is a thoughtfully curated collection of reimagined tunes by some of her all-time favorite artists,, including Tracy Chapman’s “Fast Car”, Roberta Flack’s “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face”, Stevie Wonder’s “Overjoyed” and more. Shana’s voice appears on Obama’s 2022 Summer Playlist with the song, “Better” by The Foreign Exchange. Her TV appearances include co-hosting PBS-NC’s “Block Party Live @ Home” and most recently, soundtrack composition credits for The Legacy of Black Wall Street, a 2-part series on OWN Network.
Shana is an accomplished teaching artist and arts administrator with over 20 years’ experience with community engagement and outreach, workshop facilitation for learners of all ages and creative abilities. She has served as Artist-in-Residence with NC State LIVE and VAE (Raleigh, NC), Opening Nights @ FSU (Tallahassee, FL), UNC Greensboro, and Cameron Art Museum (Wilmington, NC). Shana works with regional arts councils to further her lifelong mission to bring quality music and arts programming to students of all ages and walks of life as a touring teaching artist, clinician and masterclass facilitator, and is currently serving as the director of education and engagement where she first appeared as the inaugural resident artist at the Wortham Center for the Performing Arts in Asheville, NC.
