About the Film

LET US BE is an intimate portrait of Intersex individuals born with sex anatomy not typically male or female, across India, Brazil, and the USA.

Through personal stories, the film exposes the ongoing human rights struggle against non-consensual surgeries performed on intersex children, while confronting the rigid binaries that shape our understanding of sex and gender. LET US BE invites audiences to reconsider the norms imposed on bodies and identities, offering a reflection on autonomy, dignity, and the beauty of human diversity.

With Your Support

LET US BE just had its World Premiere at Raindance Film Festival. While the "Festival Cut" is complete, we have more work to do before the film is ready for wide release. Your support now directly funds the completion of this film (including key pickup shoots), editing, licensing, release costs, and marketing costs. Most importantly: we are in the process of creating our Impact Plan, in collaboration with our Intersex subjects in the film along with TBD Intersex and/or Human rights organizations.

About the Subjects of the Film

LET US BE features a diverse group of intersex individuals from India, Brazil, and the U.S., whose collective advocacy and personal journeys anchor the film. Hida Viloria, a pioneering author and activist, spearheaded the first global intersex human rights call to the UN and consulted on historic X-passport legislation. Similarly, Dr. Tiger Devore, a clinical psychologist and sex therapist, stands as one of the earliest public intersex advocates, renowned for decades of work challenging non-consensual surgeries. From Brazil, Vidda Guzzo, a PhD candidate and co-founder of Intersex Brazil, drives international advocacy at the UN and G20, while Carolina Iara makes history as one of the first intersex individuals to hold a parliamentary position in Latin America. They are joined by Lyss Ball, a New York-based creator and educator who utilizes her massive social media reach to destigmatize intersex identity, and Aanandh Rajappan, an Indian community leader who confronts the stigma and medical violence faced by intersex people in his home country. Together, these subjects represent a powerful global movement dedicated to bodily autonomy, legal recognition, and the radical affirmation of human diversity.
